I've just come out of a milonga (tango night) in Mexico City and I want to share while it's fresh. It was really, really nice — I hadn't danced tango since January and I'd missed it. There was pasta and chunks of pineapple laid out for the dancers!! I think I'll be saying this often: I love the food in this country. There are plenty of street vendors offering the classics — tacos, quesadillas, pizza, gorditas..... and fresh fruit too. My stomach doesn't always agree with my choices.. well, with the quantities really (my limit is around 8 tacos, I reckon :D ), but for now it's letting me get on with it :-D . Back to the night itself: the atmosphere was genuinely lovely. It's hard to put words to it, but everyone was happy to be there and smiling, there were very good vibes. The level was high too, but the dancers were still very kind to me — and I remind you that I'm a proper little beginner :- ) . As it happens, I start a run of private tango classes tomorrow. Can't wait!
